Rent-geared-to-income is sometimes referred to as subsidized rent or housing. About 9​​3 per cent of Toronto Community Housing tenants pay rent-geared-to-income. Rent-geared-to-income is​ about 30 per cent of your gross income. There is a waiting list for this type of housing. The waiting list is managed by the City of Toronto.​​


​Toronto Community Housing has units available for singles, families and seniors who can afford to pay market rent rates.


​​​​​​​​Toronto Community Housing has affordable rental units available for singles, families and seniors with lower incomes. Affordable rental units vary in si​ze and rental rates. Affordable rental uni​ts are not rent-geared-to-income units. Rent is set at or below average market rent.
