Tenant Council Members
Elected tenant leaders from each building or townhouse will participate in Tenant Councils. These councils will focus on leadership development, community development priorities, and initiatives.
Roles and responsibilities
Tenant Council Members play an important role in strengthening tenant engagement through the Engage Together model. Tenant Councils function at the district level and include members across Toronto Community Housing (TCHC).
Members’ purposes are to help strengthen the voice of tenants in local decision-making and improve participation in engagement activities.
Members will:
Attend all scheduled meetings.
Share tenant feedback, highlight successes, and identify barriers that tenants experience in their communities.
Provide input into key areas, including tenant communications, the Tenant Engagement System, Local Initiative Funding for Tenants (LIFT), and programs and policies that impact tenants across multiple communities.
Join local events and Tenant Circles in their district to stay connected and support community engagement.
Please note that Tenant Council Members do not replace existing supports or address unit-specific issues including:
Repairs and maintenance.
Individual complaints (e.g. transfers).
