Toronto Community Housing congratulates winners, thanks donors for supporting the 2020 Investing in Our Diversity Scholarships

TORONTO, Oct. 19, 2020—Toronto Community Housing and partners Blaney McMurtry LLP and Scadding Court Community Centre announced today that 59 Toronto youth have received a 2020 Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship to pursue full-time postsecondary education or professional training this fall.

The scholarship program is open to students age 17 to 29. Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, financial eligibility and community leadership through the students' volunteer involvement in youth empowerment, anti-racism, diversity and community safety.

A majority of this year's recipients live in Toronto Community Housing communities. Scholarship winners will receive up to $4,000 in financial assistance to help with tuition and school-related expenses.

The Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Program was founded in 2001 by the late Bill McMurtry, Founding Partner, Blaney McMurtry LLP, and Kevin Lee, Executive Director of Scadding Court Community Centre. The first scholarships were awarded in 2003. Toronto Community Housing became a program partner in 2006.
