Statement on shooting at 31 Gilder Drive

​TORONTO, September 21, 2022—Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) has issued this statement concerning the homicide at 31 Gilder Drive this afternoon.

Toronto Community Housing condemns this senseless act of gun violence that has cut short the life of a 17-year-old male.

We are outraged by this brazen and reckless attack, which took place at a time when children and youth in the community were returning home from school.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim and the entire Gilder Drive community at this terrible time.

We urge anyone with information about this crime to contact Toronto Police at 416-808-2222 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.  

TCHC staff are at 31 Gilder Drive this evening to support tenants. TCHC's Community Safety Unit is also onsite to assist Toronto Police with its investigation of this crime. TCHC will increase the CSU's presence in the community over the next 72 hours.
