Toronto Community Housing updates employee vaccination policy

TORONTO, November 28, 2022 — Effective December 1, 2022, Toronto Community Housing will revoke its policy requiring staff and vendors to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This decision was made following a review of the City of Toronto’s decision to update their employee vaccination policy, in accordance with the best available scientific and public health advice.

With more than 90 per cent of the public and 99 per cent of TCHC staff having received at least two doses of vaccine, the science no longer supports the need for a mandatory vaccine policy. TCHC continues to strongly encourage and support all workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and stay up to date with recommended vaccinations.

In line with the City, TCHC will also make offers of reinstatement to unionized staff who had their employment terminated during the implementation of this policy, subject to terms to be negotiated with their bargaining unit.
