TCHC thanks Spin Master for donating 1,000 toys to children this summer, adding a little bit of fun to a difficult time

TORONTO, October 6, 2021 — Nearly a thousand families in Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) communities had extra help this summer to keep their younger children engaged, thanks to Spin Master's donation of new toys.

The toys, part of Spin Master's support of families during the pandemic, were distributed by Toronto Community Housing teams who deliver community economic development and community violence reduction programming. They reached out to families with young children and distributed the toys in such locations as outdoor play programs, local food banks and community barbecues.

Spin Master, a leading global children's entertainment company, and Toronto Community Housing jointly coordinated the toy distribution program to help cheer children who are still restricted in play dates and other activities due to the pandemic.

TCHC staff have provided a broad range of community programs for tenants throughout the pandemic, and worked with many corporate and community partners who have donated food, school supplies and numerous household items in support of TCHC communities.

"Our family response team has been working tirelessly to help families who are struggling to keep children engaged and happy during this difficult period. Partnering with TCHC has allowed us to reach many more families with young children who face so many challenges during the pandemic."

"At Spin Master, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn, grow and explore through play. Families with young children have faced so many challenges during the pandemic: by partnering with TCHC we hope our toy donations were able to bring some joy to their lives."

- Tammy Smitham, Spin Master's Vice President of Communications and Corporate Citizenship, Spin Master

"By supporting tenants and their children with the donations of toys for youngsters, Spin Master has made life a little easier for hundreds of families during this challenging time."

- Nadia Gouveia, Director of Programs and Partnerships, TCHC
