TCHC recognize scholarship donors and recipients at 2022 Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Celebration

TORONTO – This evening, Toronto Community Housing alongside founding partners and donors Blaney McMurtry LLP and Scadding Court Community Centre are hosting a celebration to honour the 54 recipients of the 2022 Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship (IIODS).

The in-person reception is returning for the first time since 2019. The celebration will feature opportunities for students and donors to meet and mingle, a buffet reception dinner, photo opportunities and certificate presentations.

The IIOD Scholarships are awarded each year to youth (age 29 or younger) who live in Toronto Community Housing or the Scadding Court Community Centre catchment area. The scholarships are based on academic excellence, financial eligibility and volunteer involvement in community leadership, anti-racism or diversity initiatives. They promote youth empowerment, diversity and community safety in Toronto.

Students receive up to $4,000 for tuition fees and/or school-related expenses to pursue full-time postsecondary studies or professional training.

The Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Program was founded in 2001 by the late Bill McMurtry, Founding Partner of Blaney McMurtry LLP, and Kevin Lee, Executive Director of Scadding Court Community Centre. The first scholarships were awarded in 2003. Toronto Community Housing became a program partner in 2006.
