Statement by Toronto Community Housing: 245 Dunn Avenue Fire

TORONTO, March 11, 2020 — Toronto Community Housing has issued this statement concerning the fire today at our 245 Dunn Avenue building.

We are saddened by the tragic loss of life that occurred this morning. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased and the tenants and staff of the building at this difficult time. Staff are at 245 Dunn Street today to support tenants and assist with the response to the fire.

We thank Toronto Fire Services for their quick action in putting out the fire, and Toronto Paramedic Services for attending the scene.

The building's fire alarm system was fully operational at the time of the fire, which was contained to a single unit on the 18th floor. We have no information about the cause of the fire. We are fully cooperating with the investigation being led by Toronto Fire Services and the Ontario Fire Marshal.
