Statement on shooting at 5 Needle Firway

Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) has issued a statement concerning the homicide at 5 Needle Firway on the afternoon of October 6, 2022.

Toronto Community Housing condemns this senseless and brazen act of gun violence, which has taken a life and left a community shaken. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim, as well as the entire Firgrove-Grassways community at this terrible time.

This violence should be unacceptable to all Torontonians and we urge anyone with information about this crime to contact Toronto Police at 416-808-2222 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477. 

TCHC has temporarily closed its Tenant Service Hub at 5 Needle Firway. It will remain closed on Friday, October 7 and over the holiday weekend. TCHC will assess the situation to determine whether to reopen the hub on Tuesday, October 11.

TCHC's Community Safety Unit is onsite to assist Toronto Police with its investigation of this crime. TCHC will increase the CSU's presence in the community over the next 72 hours.

5 Needle Firway is a 12-storey apartment tower with 152 rent-geared-to-income units. It is located near Jane Street and Finch Avenue in North York. The property is owned and operated by Toronto Community Housing.
