Tenant charter

We’re another step closer! Toronto Community Housing’s Board of Directors has approved the Tenant Charter. Roll out of the Charter has started, beginning with staff training this fall. The Tenant Charter will soon be available for tenants to read at all our buildings and Operating Unit offices.

To read the Tenant Charter, you can:

The Tenant Charter Advisory Committee, made up of tenants and staff, developed the Tenant Charter to make sure everyone working at, living in, or visiting Toronto Community Housing, shares the responsibility of maintaining a culture of respect, safety, equity and inclusiveness.

The Charter reflects our company’s values: Community Collaboration, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect. It communicates our commitment to service and sets out accountabilities for tenants and employees.

To create the charter, we consulted with employees and tenants. This included a survey and open consultations in the spring of 2016 and a Tenant Charter Advisory Committee made up of tenants and employees who met a total of 15 times to draft the charter. The charter, previously referred to as a resident charter, is now referred to as the Tenant Charter based on feedback at the consultations and a decision made by the Tenant Charter Advisory Committee.
