Rookie League is a summer long baseball day-camp program for kids six to 12 years old. Jays Care Foundation, in partnership with Toronto Community Housing, have run this program for 28 seasons to help build strong communities by teaching life lessons about teamwork, leadership and fair play, on and off the field. Registered players receive a hat, water bottle, backpack, glove and t-shirt, imprinted with the name of a current Toronto Blue Jays player. In 2016, over 1,300 youth from 43 Toronto Community Housing neighbourhoods developed their baseball skills through weekly drills, games and tournaments.

FAQs

Will lunch be provided?

Lunch will be provided to all participants in the Rookie League Program. If your child(ren) has special needs, dietary restrictions and/or allergies, they should be discussed with the Registration Team or the Senior Program Leader on the first day of camp. Parents are encouraged to pack snacks and drinks for their child(ren).

Who will be responsible for looking after my children?

Each site will consist of Senior Program Leaders and Junior Program Leaders. These staff have all gone through an extensive selection process and have been thoroughly trained on the policies and procedures to maintain an utmost professional manner, acting as teachers and role models to the children who come to camp.

If Rookie League is not in my community, can I still enroll my children?
Yes! If you are a Toronto Community Housing tenant, you can register your child(ren) at the Rookie League site nearest to you.

Are field trips free?
Most of the field trips scheduled during the program are free. However, some field trips will require additional fees to pay for the admission of the trip. If this is the case, you will receive a letter, in advance, indicating the amount needed for your child(ren) to participate in the field trip.
