Opportunity for Regent Park residents to participate in revitalization economic development

Opportunity for Regent Park residents to participate in revitalization economic development

April 20, 2022

Application Deadline Extended!

Expanded Age Eligibility for Youth Roles

In 2020, Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) selected Tridel as its developer partner for Phases 4 and 5 of the Regent Park Revitalization following an open public procurement process. One of the most important features of Tridel's proposal was their commitment to a $26.8-million community economic development program that will benefit the tenants and residents of Regent Park.

This program will be shaped over the coming year with regular, frequent and direct input from the community on their priorities. This input will create the Community Benefits Agreement (CBA).

Making the Community Benefits Agreement

To identify the community's priorities and formalize the CBA, TCHC is forming a working group to guide community engagement over a one-year period. The Community Benefits Oversight Working Group (CBOWG) will include a variety of people who live in Regent Park. All residents, community groups and advocates will be able to participate in the engagement, whether or not they are part of the CBOWG.

The CBOWG's diverse group of Regent Park residents will guide the engagement process to learn about what is important to the people of Regent Park, recording these ideas in community benefit packages. Each package will describe a possible community benefit such as jobs, community space, scholarships, funds for programs, and other ideas which come the community.

After the priorities have been identified, the community will select the benefit packages that are most important to them. The CBA is then finalized, guaranteeing the delivery of the benefits included in benefit package selected by the community. An oversight committee will track the progress of the CBA to ensure it is successfully completed.
