Toronto Community Housing Voluntary Claims Plan for the Tenants of 200 Wellesley Based on feedback from tenants at recent meetings, on October 21, 2010, Toronto Community Housing's Board of Directors directed staff to develop a voluntary claims program aimed at compensating tenants now for their losses as an alternative to a long, costly class action process. The goal is to compensate tenants many of whom do not have insurance for lost property and the loss of access to their homes while ensuring that all available funds go to tenants, not to lawyers in the form of expensive contingency fees.
Residents of floors 23, 24 & 25 (North) and 24 (South) The relocation office at 325 Bleecker Street for these tenants will close on Friday November 5. South Tower - Maintenance
We are testing the new fire safety system. You may hear alarm signals over the next few days, announcements will be made prior to each test to ensure that you aware the sounds are tests and not actual alarms, we apologize for the interruption the tests may cause.
Due to construction in the North tower, we will be operating HEPA-filtered air scrubbers in hallways of the South tower to ensure that the air quality stays at safe levels. Please do not unplug these machines. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will continue to test the air quality every day for your health and safety.
We are testing the new fire safety system. On Wednesday November 10 and Thursday November 11 you may hear alarm signals. Announcements will be made prior to each test. If there is an actual fire, please follow the Fire Watch procedures, we apologize for the interruption the tests may cause.
Rent Your rent payment was due on November 1st and is payable to Toronto Community Housing. Please put your cheque or money order in the lock box in the lobby of 200 Wellesley.
Doors and locks New doors will be installed as required in the next three weeks. Please do not install your own door locks. Doing so violates your lease and compromises the fire rating on the door.
Changes to the Visitor policy All visitors are welcome and must sign in and out with security due to the Fire Watch. Security will call residents when visitors arrive after 9 pm, before allowing them to enter the building. If you have visitors, you are responsible for them; visitors are not allowed to roam around the building.
Elevators When you need an elevator, please ask the security guard on your floor, he/she will radio a request and the first available elevator will come to your floor. Tenants receive priority over construction and maintenance workers. During peak times, there may be some delays because so many people require the elevators at the same time.
Parking Currently levels B1 and B2 of underground parking for 200 Wellesley are being used as part of the ongoing repairs. Tenants who require parking can access the B2 level of 325 Bleecker Street. Please ensure that you have a Toronto Community Housing barcode prior to parking at 325 Bleecker. If you require a barcode, please go to 155 Sherbourne Street to obtain one, and bring your proof of ownership with you.
