Video helps tenants understand their lease

July 23, 2012

Toronto Community Housing has created a video for tenants that is available in 18 languages. The video provides clear information to help tenants understand their rights and responsibilities under their lease. A successful tenancy starts with the lease.

View the video online at http://www.torontohousing.ca/lease.

Staff and tenants are excited about the video and are already finding it helpful in the leasing process, especially with the different language options. Cheryl Griffin, a Tenant Services Coordinator, thinks that applicants have a better, thorough and grounded understanding after watching the video.

As part of his review of Toronto Community Housings Eviction Prevention Policy, the Honourable Patrick LeSage recommended that more information be made available to tenants during the lease signing process, and that it should be available in different languages. The video achieves this recommendation.

If you or someone you know has questions about their lease, please call Toronto Community Housing at 416-981-5500. We will put you in a touch with a Tenant Services Coordinator who can help.
