Twenty Lawrence Heights and Neptune residents receive scholarships to pursue higher education and training

On Thursday, September 24, Toronto Community Housing and Heights Development Inc. hosted an awards dinner to celebrate 20 recipients of the third annual Building Our Future: Limitless Heights Scholarship Program.

Now in its third year, the Building our Future: Limitless Heights Scholarship Program provides Lawrence Heights and Neptune residents of all ages with financial support for post-secondary education or training. The program recognizes the commitment of resident leaders of all ages who have been involved in community building/development and made significant contributions within the Lawrence Heights and Neptune communities.

The Building our Future: Limitless Heights Scholarship Program offers:
• Up to $3,000 for tuition fees
• $300 bursary to cover additional costs for books, materials, transportation and childcare
• Economic development opportunities through ongoing support from Toronto Community Housing

As part of their commitments as the developer partners for Phase 1 of the Lawrence Heights Revitalization, Heights Development Inc. (Context-Metropia) contributed $500,000 in 2013 for the purpose of helping residents acquire knowledge and skills to secure better lives. Sixty-six scholarships valued at $252,000 have been given to Toronto Community Housing residents in the Lawrence Heights and Neptune area since the program was launched in 2013.
