NAOSH 2007This year, North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week takes place from May 6 to 12. The goal of NAOSH Week is to focus attention on occupational safety and health. At Toronto Community Housing, there are 15 Joint Health and Safety Committees in locations throughout the organization. The committees are made up of representatives from both labour and management and they support managers and staff to make sure the organization is healthy and safe.

At Toronto Community Housing, the Health and Safety Unit launched NAOSH Week on Monday May 7, 2007. The launch event included a station for blood pressure testing, a speaker about finding balance in your life and lots of games and giveaways. Prizes included things like blood pressure monitors, heart rate monitors, Heart & Stroke fitness wheels, pedometers and gift certificates.

From Tuesday May 8 to Friday May 11, each local Joint Health and Safety Committee at Toronto Community Housing is hosting an event at their work locations. Some of the planned events include an ergonomics in the workplace seminar and a session about relaxation techniques.
