Toronto Community Housing employees praised at Ombudsman Awards

July 12, 2012

Congratulations to employees Ismail Ibrahim and Karen Smith for their nominations at the City of Toronto's Ombudsman Awards in June 2012. Ismail is legal counsel at Toronto Community Housing and Karen is an administrative assistant at Housing Connections, a subsidiary of Toronto Community Housing.

The Ombudsman Awards acknowledge outstanding public service in proactive complaint resolution within the City of Toronto. The awards are open to all City of Toronto divisions, agencies, boards and commissions and their employees.

Toronto Community Housing was well represented with two great nominees. Ismail and Karen have each been contacts for the Ombudsman's office for two years.

In a summary of Ismail's nomination, Ombudsman staff said he has "a high standard of professionalism." Staff also said he is "courteous and respectful despite the often stressed circumstances of the complainants." Ismail "demonstrates a profound commitment to public service championing the Ombudsman's mandate."

Karen's nomination summary from Ombudsman staff was equally impressive. She was said to go "well beyond her responsibilities to address complaints and bridge communication with our office." She was described as showing "public service at its best!"
