Toronto Community Housing cleans up

April 25, 2007

Earth Day Clean-UpOnce again, Toronto Community Housing participated in the 20-Minute Toronto Makeover and Mayor David Miller's Community Clean-up Day to support Earth Day and a green city.

These are just two of the many ways Toronto Community Housing is contributing to a greener Toronto. Since implementing Green Works, Toronto Community Housing has replaced old fridges, stoves and toilets with new models that conserve energy and water, started green training for front line staff and reduced green house gas emissions by more than 12,000 tonnes - the same as taking 6,400 cars off the roads!

20-Minute Toronto Makeover

Many tenants and nearly every Toronto Community Housing employee participated in the quick city makeover on April 20. This was the fourth year for Toronto's annual clean-up day and the best year for Toronto Community Housing participation.

Mayor David Miller's Community Clean-up Day

Mayor Clean-UpThis year, the Mayor spent his Community Clean-up day in Community Housing Unit 18 - Etobicoke/North York. He toured buildings, met with staff and tenants and participated in picking up litter in the Firgrove neighbourhood.
