Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) commends the City of Toronto for their leadership and will follow the City's direction requiring mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for all our employees by October 30, 2021.
The health and safety of employees and tenants is a top priority at TCHC. Requiring the COVID-19 vaccination to be mandatory for employees is an important next step in continuing to protect our employees and the tenants we serve. TCHC's approach will be based on the City of Toronto's policy and will be implemented in a manner that is consistent with TCHC's human rights obligations to employees who are legally entitled to an accommodation.
Throughout the pandemic, TCHC has maintained clean and safe buildings and has carried out over 19,000 wellness checks, ensuring vulnerable tenants have access to the supports they need.
Today's announcement builds on TCHC's commitment to helping employees and tenants stay healthy and safe. This has included working closely with health partners to conduct in-building vaccination clinics in all 83 seniors buildings, as well as more than 300 community and in-building vaccination clinics across Toronto, providing employees and tenants with convenient access to COVID-19 vaccinations.
"We have a responsibility to our employees and tenants to help keep them healthy and safe. Mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations is an important step for TCHC and builds on all our efforts throughout the pandemic."
