Statement by Toronto Community Housing on the passing of Deputy Mayor Pam McConnell

July 07, 2017

TORONTO, July 7, 2017—Board Chair Bud Purves and Interim President and CEO Kevin Marshman issued this statement today on the passing of Deputy Mayor Pam McConnell.

Toronto Community Housing mourns the loss of Deputy Mayor Pam McConnell.  Throughout her career at City Hall, Deputy Mayor McConnell was a strong supporter of Toronto Community Housing and the tenants of Ward 28 (Toronto-Rosedale). She was a driving force behind the Regent Park revitalization, and Regent Park’s transformation into one of Toronto’s most vibrant, socially cohesive communities will be her lasting legacy.

We will remember her deep empathy for TCHC tenants, her dedication to public service, and her passionate commitment to social justice. She believed in bringing people together to give them a voice and empower them to drive change. Her work has touched the lives of many people in our city and she will be deeply missed.

We extend our condolences and deepest sympathies to her husband Jim, their daughters, their grandchildren and all members of their extended family.

Toronto Community Housing staff will be in Regent Park and the broader community today and through the weekend to provide support to our tenants.
