Rookie Ball finishes another exciting season in the spotlight

August 31, 2006

The 18th season of the Rookie Ball program in which over 400 children and youth from Toronto Community Housing neighbourhoods participated, wrapped up with an All-Star game at the Rogers Centre on August 23, 2006.
The game featured youth who had been selected due to their exceptional attendance and attitude each week. The games featured pitcher was an All-Star himself, Toronto Blue Jays Outfielder Vernon Wells.

In the evening before the Blue Jays home game, youth were joined by Toronto Community Housing CEO Derek Ballantyne, Youth Coordinator Stayce Grant, and Vernon Wells with an on-field cheque presentation.

One of the lucky young people represented TCHC and threw out the first pitch for the game.
