R-PATH Committee represents accessibility in Toronto Community Housing at the 2014 People in Motion Show

May 21, 2014

May 21, 2014 - The R-Path Committee will represent accessibility in Toronto Community Housing at the People in Motion Show.

Consisting of Toronto Community Housing residents who live with physical disabilities, the R-PATH Committee provides practical assessments, reports and recommendations to the Board of Directors and management of Toronto Community Housing. In its first year, R-PATH has submitted a recommendation that resulted in a $1-million increase in Toronto Community Housings 2014 accessibility budget.

R-PATH provides a practical lens of accessibility needs for common spaces, in-suite standards, policy and processes, budget and communication recommendations. The committees goal is high quality practical accessibility accommodations for residents. It provides assistance to senior management in planning accessibility needs. A practical lens adds to the quality of services Toronto Community Housing offers. It allows for funds to be spent with a higher quality, increased accessibility lifespan based on real life experience. It also contributes to meeting all legislative requirements under the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

R-PATH invites all residents and staff to visit our exhibit.
