On Monday, October 23 from 12 noon to 6 pm, hand-crafted masks created by Youth from Pelham Park (CHU 25) were displayed at the Bloor-Yonge subway station. Toronto's busy commuters took a moment to enjoy the colourful, eye-catching creations. The display was an opportunity for the public to become aware of Toronto Community Housing's Children and Youth initiatives.
The masks were created this summer as part of the "Three Communities Mask Mosaic" project.
Pelham Park Youth Resource Centre, in collaboration with mask artist Pamela Schuller, programmed a range of workshops that combined art making with conversation, community building and potlucks.
The Pelham Park Youth Mask initiative was a collaborative effort with the City of Toronto's Live with Culture '06, Arts in the Hood program.
