TORONTO, June 17, 2021 — Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) has extended its pause on enforcing evictions for unpaid rent (arrears).
The pause will remain in place at least until the move to Step 3 in the province's recovery plan.
During the pause, TCHC will continue to follow all steps in its arrears collection process and eviction process short of enforcement by the Sheriff.
The pause only applies to evictions for arrears. Evictions for cause will continue to be enforced where appropriate.
Tenants who have arrears and are in default of a repayment agreement or a mediated agreement at the Landlord and Tenant Board may face eviction after the pause is lifted.
Help is available for tenants who have fallen behind in their rent during the pandemic. These tenants can contact their Tenant Services Coordinator or the Client Care Centre at firstname.lastname@example.org or 416-981-5500.
