Managing Director Compensation

At its special meeting of March 9, 2011 Toronto City Council appointed Mr. Case Ootes as Managing Director of Toronto Community Housing and authorized the City Manager to set the Managing Director's compensation as an exception to rates previously approved by Council in the City's Remuneration Policy for City agencies and corporations.

Mr. Ootes began his responsibilities as Managing Director of Toronto Community Housing on Monday, March 14, 2011.

As Managing Director, Mr. Ootes assumes the duties of all 13 previous members of Toronto Community Housing's Board of Directors. Board members and the board chair, combined in total, normally receive up to $110,000 per year plus expenses, consisting of both an annual retainer and per diem payments. As Toronto City Council has directed that the new board be in place by June 14, 2011, the Managing Director's term will be three months or until the new board is approved. Remuneration for this position will be a set fee of $25,000 plus expenses.

About Case Ootes

Most recently, Case Ootes led the transition team following the election of Mayor Rob Ford in October 2010. Mr. Ootes was a member of Toronto City Council for four terms, representing Ward 29 (Toronto-Danforth) in the amalgamated City of Toronto from 1998 to 2010 and was Deputy Mayor from 1998 to 2003. Previously, he served as a Councillor on the Councils of the former borough of East York and the former Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto.
