This year Human Rights Day celebrates the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the mandate of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Human Rights Day commemorates the United Nations General Assembly's adoption and proclamation, on December 10, 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first global statement of human rights.
