Today is both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and the grassroots Orange Shirt Day.
By honouring this day, Toronto Community Housing recognizes the ongoing trauma caused by residential and day schools, and remembers those who never returned home, survivors and their families. This day is an opportunity for you to learn more and continue your journey of truth, reconciliation and justice with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Toronto and across Canada. It is also a time to focus on supporting the healing of Indigenous survivors.
Reconciliation is the responsibility of all of us. To reflect on your work toward reconciliation, you can attend community events open to the public, such as:
