Toronto Community Housing and The Daniels Corporation joined St. Michael’s Hospital and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for the official opening of the Sumac Creek Health Centre on July 8.
The Ontario government is investing up to $13.1 million in the new health centre, which is located on the third floor of 73 Regent Park Blvd (a new condominium building built as part of Toronto Community Housing’s Regent Park Revitalization). The centre will open to the public on July 13.
We partnered with Daniels to build this new building, and are the joint landlords of the commercial space that houses the health centre. We also worked together to secure St. Michael’s Hospital as a new service provider in the Regent Park, Moss Park and St. Jamestown communities.
At the new clinic, patients will be assigned family doctors who will work with a team (including social workers, a chiropodist, psychiatrist, and pharmacist) to make sure they get the care they need. The clinic will also provide those with the most complex (mental health and addiction recovery) needs with care available on a 24/7 basis.
This is another example of how Toronto Community Housing and its partners are bringing residents the supports and services they need right in their own communities.
