TORONTO, March 19, 2019 — Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) has activated its emergency response plan to assist tenants affected by a fire at 607 The East Mall.
TCHC staff are onsite to support tenants and assist with the response. The fire has affected 19 units, and displaced as many as 80 tenants. TCHC staff are arranging for temporary accommodation for those who are displaced by the fire.
Tenants from the affected units are being advised that they will be unable to return to their units this evening and for the next several days. Tenants who are on their way home are asked to go to 609 The East Mall, where TCHC employees are available to provide supports.
