Students shine at the 2018 Limitless Heights Scholarship dinner

August 21, 2018

Scholarship recipients, family members and supporters, tenants, TCHC team members and community partners from Lawrence Heights and Neptune gathered on August 16 at the Columbus Event Centre in North York to celebrate the sixth annual Building our Future: Limitless Heights Scholarship Program.

This year, 16 bright, young students from the Lawrence Heights and Neptune communities received postsecondary scholarships of up to $3,000 for their leadership and community engagement. The program celebrated a very special milestone this year, having awarded its 100th scholarship.

MP Marco Mendicino, MPP Robin Martin and TCHC's developer partners at Heights Development Inc., were just a few of the special guests on hand to recognize this year's recipients. The night was filled with amazing performances, inspiring speeches and an awards presentation.

The Building our Future: Limitless Heights Scholarship Program provides Lawrence Heights and Neptune residents of all ages with financial support for post-secondary education or training.

In 2013, Context-Metropia (also known as Heights Development Inc.), Toronto Community Housing's developer partner for phase one of Lawrence Heights revitalization, donated $500,000 to create a scholarship fund for the purpose of helping Lawrence Heights and Neptune residents to acquire knowledge and skills needed to reach their full potential. To date, the program has awarded more than 100 scholarships.
