200 kids receive free swimsuits to beat the heat

July 31, 2015

Toronto's recent heat alerts have made it a challenge to stay cool. Toronto Community Housing currently has 14 pools open across the city and works with our vendor Superior Pool to facilitate and maintain the pools. This summer, Toronto Community Housing and Superior Pool coordinated swimsuit giveaway events at two communities where pools are open: 4301 Kingston Road and 609 The East Mall.

Superior Pool donated 200 swimsuits (100 for boys and 100 for girls) to kids four to 10 years old living in Toronto Community Housing who are participating or interested in participating in summer recreational programming.

In celebration of the swimsuit giveaways, Toronto Community Housing staff hosted community BBQs at both locations. Kids, parents, residents and Toronto Community Housing staff had a great time. For many young residents, the events were about more than receiving a new swimsuit it was the opportunity to learn about summer programming, celebrate with new friends, go swimming and discover a new way to beat the heat all summer long.

This opportunity was possible because of the hard work and dedication of staff from Toronto Community Housing and Superior Pool. Working together with our community partners and vendors is one of the many ways Toronto Community Housing continues to build vibrant communities across the city.
