Mark McDonald joined Toronto Community Housing on October 3, 2016 as Vice President, Information Technology and Information Services (ITS). Mark oversees all aspects of our ITS function and leads the transformation process to refresh Toronto Community Housing's information technology strategy.
An experienced business and technology executive, Mark has spent more than 25 years in the private and public sectors. He has worked in highly strategic and progressively responsible roles in water management, healthcare, software engineering and managed consulting services for multinational organizations across Canada and in the United States, Mexico and Germany.
Prior to joining Toronto Community Housing, Mark served as Chief Information Officer for the City of Vancouver, where he led the transformation of the city's strategic business operations through the use of emerging mobile technology, big data and cloud-based solutions. He was instrumental in the development of Vancouver's first-ever digital strategy and led the delivery of numerous business technology and digital projects.
Mark has also been Senior Director of Information Technology with Westin Engineering, an international water resources management company, and Regional Director for Information and Communication Technology with Niagara Health System in Ontario. Mark is an advocate for smart cities, smart buildings and infrastructure, and digitally connected communities, and is a frequent speaker at technology conferences across Canada.
