Councillor, Ward 18 Davenport
In October 2010, Ana was elected into her current role as City Councillor for Ward 18, where she is a dynamic and energetic voice for women, low-income families and new Canadians. Serving for the past two years as Vice-Chair of the Planning and Growth Committee, Ana has been heavily involved in promoting a city design that serves our business, residential and social needs. This enthusiasm and experience will be carried into her new role as Vice-Chair of the Community Development and Recreation Committee.
Ana is also Chair of the Affordable Housing Committee where she is responsible for bringing the private sector together with non-profit organizations to address Toronto's growing demand for affordable housing. By co-opting business principals and community activism, Ana continues to build more engaged, more prosperous and more sustainable neighbourhoods in our City.
In 2011, Ana Bailão was appointed by City Council to Chair the Special Working Group to respond to investigate new partnerships and innovative solutions to the single-family homes repair backlog. This report was released to the public on September 17th, 2012 and received overwhelming support from City Council on October 30th, 2012.
