Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

Toronto Community Housing collects personal and confidential information about its tenants. The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) regulates the way Toronto Community Housing collects, stores and releases this information.

You have a right to view the information Toronto Community Housing collects about you. You have the right to access general corporate information or any of your personal information that Toronto Community Housing keeps.
This Act defines how you can access this information. 

What is a Freedom of Information request?

Anyone can make Freedom of Information (FOI) request to:

  • get copies or view copies of files, security reports or other forms of personal information
  • view general information about Toronto Community Housing.
What is personal information?

Personal information includes information you including:

  • Ethnic origin, race, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation and language;
  • Identifying numbers e.g. social insurance number or Client Number;
  • Home address and home telephone number; and 
  • Information about your education, financial situation, employment, medical and criminal history
