Toronto Community Housing is celebrating the grand opening of 1900 Sheppard Avenue West: A Community For Young Mothers. The brand new facility -- a partnership between the Government of Canada, the City of Toronto, the United Way of Greater Toronto and Humewood House -- will help young mothers build a stronger future for themselves and their children by providing safe and supportive shelter.

This development project involves the redevelopment of a deteriorating existing schoolhouse building that was turned into 13 units of artists' housing many years ago.

West Don Lands

Toronto Community Housing is developing affordable rental homes in the West Don Lands as part of the city's waterfront revitalization initiative.

There will be 243 affordable rental units in three buildings:

Railway Rentals

Toronto Community Housing is building new affordable rental units that will be available near Front and Bathurst in the Railway Lands neighbourhood later this year.

This new building is near transit, parks, shopping and restaurants.

There will be 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom units. Rents range from $949 to $1,689.

1900 Sheppard Avenue West

1900 Sheppard Ave WestToronto Community Housing was asked by the City of Toronto in September 2004 to take on the development of 1900 Sheppard Avenue West (at Jane and Sheppard) as a supportive, transitional housing project for youth - pregnant women and mothers under the age of 25 who require support.
