Regent Park wins FCM Municipal Award of Excellence
On May 30, 2010, Toronto Community Housing's revitalization of Regent Park was honoured with a 2010 Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Sustainable Community Award as the first-ever FCM Municipal Awards of Excellence were handed out in Toronto.
Twenty-two municipalities and individuals were awarded at the FCM's 73rd Annual Conference in four different award categories ranging from innovation in sustainable practices to involvement in international municipal cooperation.
The Regent Park Revitalization (Phase I) was one of the winners of the ‘energy' category awarded to projects or programs that focus on producing, conserving, or distributing energy. The award recognizes the priority that Toronto Community Housing places on creating sound investments in real estate assets through its Environmental Retrofit Strategy.
The awards are open to all municipal governments and their private-sector partners.
