Toronto Community Housing Expands Affordable Home Ownership Program and Reports Significant Progress on Capital Plan Repairs

Toronto Community Housing residents will be given the chance to buy a new home following approval of an expanded Affordable Home Ownership Program by the Board of Directors today. The Board also discussed Toronto Community Housing’s progress in making significant investments in repairs in the first full year of its 10-year capital plan.

Toronto Community Housing Calls on Federal Government to Invest in Housing Infrastructure In its submission to the 2015 Federal pre-budget consultations, Toronto Community Housing is proposing that the Government of Canada invest in housing infrastructure to help prevent its 58,500 housing units from reaching a critical state of disrepair.

Participatory Budgeting Builds Pride of Place at Toronto Community Housing Toronto Community Housing’s Participatory Budgeting (PB) program helps instill a pride of place among residents by giving them a say in how capital dollars are invested in their communities. Now in its twelfth year, PB has been given a $5 million investment out of Toronto Community Housing’s $128 million 2014 capital repair budget.
