Breaking Ground, the show must go on
Dedicated performers and spectators stuck it out through heavy rain for Breaking Ground - a unique performance where the construction zone at Regent Park came to life through a series of spectacular images and sounds performed by some of Canada’s most talented artists.
Breaking Ground was presented by Coleman Lemieux and Compagnie with support from The Daniels Corporation and Toronto Community Housing.
To celebrate the residents of Regent Park – current, returning and new – the group presented a free 60-minute live performance: Breaking Ground. The event featured magical dance moments, mysterious sounds and surprising sights created by CLC, Regent Park’s resident dance company.
Showcasing the talents of choreographer Bill Coleman, ballerina Heather Ogden, actor Jackie Burroughs and countertenor Daniel Taylor, Breaking Ground also included the participation of community members, local artists and construction workers.
A reception followed at the OneCole presentation centre, with international foods prepared by local suppliers.
