Toronto Community Housing’s Amazing Race
On Thursday, August 10, 2006 approximately 100 youth from Toronto Community Housing participated in "The Amazing Race". Teams were sent scrambling throughout the City of Toronto completing tasks and collecting clues to complete the race. Some of the "pitstops" included Dundas Square, City Hall, the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, Woodgreen Community Services, and Citytv's "Speakers Corner" booth; at which the 14 teams were required to speak about a positive initiative that is happening in their various communities.
The city wide game gave TCHC’s kids the chance to explore their great city while building awareness of some of the available social resources that are easily accessible for youth.
The game concluded at 931 Yonge, Toronto Community Housing’s head office where the teams were greeted by cheering staff and Chief Operating Officer Keiko Nakamura, who awarded medals and ribbons to all the youth that completed the race.
