Toronto Community Housing Board to hear directly from tenants
TORONTO, April 18, 2011 – Toronto Community Housing’s Board of Directors will host a series of four Town Hall sessions in April to hear first-hand from tenants about concerns they have with their communities and the services Toronto Community Housing provides.
Approved as a pilot during its February 2012 meeting, the Board Town Halls will focus on four key issues:
- Crime, safety and security
- Building cleanliness and maintenance
- Building services
- Pest management
The feedback received from tenants during these sessions will help the Board identify the changes required to improve the company’s policies, practices and services.
Staff from Toronto Police Service, Toronto Public Health and Municipal Licensing and Standards will also be on hand to address questions and concerns that arise during the meetings.
The Board Town Halls will be chaired by Councillor Cesar Palacio, who is chair of the Board’s Tenant and Community Services Committee. Other Toronto Community Housing Board members will also attend. All four meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 19th at 130 Eglinton Ave. East
- Monday, April 23rd at 4205 Lawrence Ave. East
- Wednesday, April 25th at 341 Bloor St. West
- Monday, April 30th at 1901 Weston Road
In line with Toronto Community Housing’s commitment to tenant consultation, these sessions are one of many opportunities in 2012 for tenants to provide input on the company’s priorities. Tenants will also be involved in Community Management Plan consultations and tenant elections later this year.
