November 11, 2009 | Youth Design Charette An interactive design workshop was held where youth, together with the project team, reviewed and commented on initial revitalization options. This was followed by a group discussion where youth shared their vision and ideas for the future Alexandra Park. This discussion was captured in an illustration reflecting the desires of the youth.
November 7, 2009 | Revitalization Options Design Charette Using input gathered over the the previous three months, plan options were presented at an afternoon design charette at the Alexandra Park Community Centre. Over 100 residents participated in evaluating different plan options for revitalization, providing valuable input into the direction of the plan.
November 2, 2009 | Sustainability

Alexandra Park residents want a green and sustainable community.

At this session, residents and the consulting team covered different topics related to sustainable communities: green space, garbage and recycling, energy, water and transportation.

November 1, 2009 | Youth Forum Lancefield Morgan, a Community Revitalization Consultant at Toronto Community Housing, conducted an information session on revitalization followed by a group question and answer discussion where youth were given the opportunity to talk about their thoughts and ideas about the Alexandra Park revitalization.
October 28, 2009 | Housing Design At this community conversation, residents shared with the consulting team how they currently use the space inside and outside their units, and discussed in detail how outdoor common areas and their units could be improved.
October 26, 2009 | Housing Options There are many different types of housing already within Alexandra Park including co-operative, Toronto Community Housing rent-geared-to-income and market rental. The first part of the presentation covered the differences between these housing types and talked about their future within revitalization.
October 21, 2009 | Jobs and Employment

Residents have expressed their desire for revitalization to create job opportunities for the community. At this meeting, residents heard about successful job creation in other revitalization projects, as well as Toronto Community Housing’s efforts to support tenant businesses.

October 19, 2009 | Connecting Diverse Communities An indicator of a healthy community is the strength of social bonds between neighbours. This community conversation provided an opportunity for residents to talk about what would make a successful mixed-income community work. Residents talked about the role of neighbourhood spaces, community groups and other structures that help build strong bonds in diverse neighbourhoods.
October 14, 2009 | Amenities Services and Parks Residents of Alexandra Park identified green spaces, recreational and social facilities as a priority. At this community conversation, residents looked at types of green spaces and recreation facilities, talked about what they felt would work in Alexandra Park, as well as the amenities they would like to have in these spaces.
