1900 Sheppard Avenue West
Toronto Community Housing was asked by the City of Toronto in September 2004 to take on the development of 1900 Sheppard Avenue West (at Jane and Sheppard) as a supportive, transitional housing project for youth - pregnant women and mothers under the age of 25 who require support.
The proposed project is a three-storey building containing 27 small residential units - one and two bedrooms - in the upper floors and two spaces on the lower level - a multipurpose tenant-oriented amenity space for the mothers and their children and a meeting room that will house programs, meetings and other community activities. The meeting room will be available for support activities for building residents and Toronto Community Housing tenants in the immediate area as well as programs held by local community agencies for young mothers and children.
The site is under construction and occupancy is scheduled for early 2008.
