Within TCH, the Community Safety Unit (CSU) provides innovative safety promotion and security services to its communities. The CSU provides a full range of safety services in a social setting that supports a community development approach to safety and engages tenants rather than acting as guardians of communities.
As a Field Operations Supervisor, you will coordinate and supervise a large team of security staff in providing community patrol and response coverage to TCH communities, incorporating site and mobile control, special constables, security dispatch service and parking services in conjunction with outside agencies such as the police, fire and ambulance services.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and manages staff teams in providing security coverage
• Assumes primary responsibly in crisis and emergency situations
• Coaches, mentors, supports and disciplines staff
• Drafts reports and maintain records
• Processes legal forms
• Documents expenditures
• Conducts performance reviews
• Processes and administers reports
• Develops security plans, policies and innovative methods of service delivery
• Establishes effective working relationships and partnerships with police, emergency services, social services, residents, staff and managers
• Administers fleet of vehicles
• Attends tenant meetings to answer enquiries and attends court appearances to provide evidence
Qualifications:
• Should possess five (5) years of experience as a Community Patrol Officer or equivalent, with at least one (1) year as a Special Constable
• A college diploma in law enforcement or equivalent
• Thorough knowledge of safety and security policies, practices, and techniques including on-site, mobile, bike patrol and dispatch systems
• Ability to effectively supervise, monitor and mentor staff
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and investigatory techniques to handle emergency situations
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutes, by-laws and practices including the Criminal Code, Residential Tenancies Act, Fire Safety Act, various municipal, parking and enforcement by-laws, building and safety standards
• Knowledge of TCH policies to ensure compliance and consistency in the delivery and assessment of security activities
• An understanding of TCH's diverse housing environments
• Knowledge of applicable Collective Agreements, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Policies
• Well developed analytical and conceptual skills to evaluate deployment needs and assess responses required in emergency and crisis situations
• Well developed organizational and decision-making skills
• Ability to liaise effectively with Police Departments, Fire Departments, other governmental agencies and staff
• Strong written communication skills to prepare management reports and briefing materials
• Must be able to work shifts
