About the program

The Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship is supported by Toronto Community Housing and Scadding Court Community Centre as part of our commitment to the future of young people living in our communities.

Successful scholarship recipients are selected from among Toronto's up-and-coming diverse young leaders.  Each recipient must have made a strong contribution to their communities in promoting diversity, equity and anti-racism dialogue.

The scholarship funds are used by students to offset the costs of tuition, books and residence fees at publicly-funded, Canadian post-secondary institutions.  The funds may also be applied towards the costs of a recognized trade apprenticeship program or to support a transitional year for mature students returning to school.

Additional supports for student success

As part of the program, scholarship recipients receive additional support to ensure their continued academic and career success, such as:

  • access to specialized programs such as Ryerson University's Tri-Mentoring Program and the University of Toronto's Centre for Community Partnerships;
  • assistance in securing summer employment, getting field-related work experience and developing a professional network through its partnership with St. Stephen's Community House Employment Centre; and
  • connection to professional networking opportunities (for past recipients through a growing Alumni Association).
